Local man Anthony Murphy ran the Waterford Half Marathon on 2nd December last in aid of the Rainbow Unit and in memory of his good friend Hughie Greenan. In the photo you will see Anthony presenting a cheque for €1,275 surrounded by our very happy pupils. All the money raised will be used to support the work of the Rainbow Unit. We are so thankful to Hughie’s wife Breda and to Anthony for their very kind support.

Today’s Rainbow Unit Cake Sale was a great success and raised €3,500, all of which will be used to provide resources and therapies for the children who attend the unit. The support of our Scoil Mhuire families, staff, community and sponsors in making today such a success is hugely appreciated. An enormous thank you also goes to our wonderful Rainbow Unit parents who have worked so very hard over the last number of weeks organising today’s extravaganza. A great time was had by everyone.

Dear Parents & Guardians, it's been a very busy day here in Scoil Mhuire and we're delighted to confirm that we will re-open for pupils tomorrow morning. Our team of builders has been working hard from first light making the storm damaged areas of the roof safe. It will be a number of weeks before the repairs are completed fully so we'll be looking a little less than our best for a while. Our annual Pumpkin Sale in aid of our Rainbow Unit and our annual Book Fair will launch tomorrow...so it's an exciting three days ahead. We look forward to welcoming all the children back tomorrow and thank you again for your support over the past few days.

As many Parents, Guardians & members of our local community will know at this stage, Scoil Mhuire suffered some roof damage today as a result of the very high winds brought by Storm Ophelia. Our school plan, when events like this occur, has been put in place. We have a building team on standby and they will begin work on the roof as soon as the winds die down. They will make the roof safe in preparation for more significant repairs. Fortunately, no one was injured today and that is the most important thing. If possible, we will re-open for pupils on Wednesday. We will ensure to keep our Parents & Guardians up to date via text & our school website as soon as we have definitive news. We ask that you be patient with us as it may be later tomorrow before we can confirm that we will re-open on Wednesday. We hope that you and your families are safe and well and we thank you for all the kind messages of support that we received today.
