The three 2nd classes enjoyed a great day out at the Raven Nature Reserve this week. We have been learning about trees and springtime and this trip was a fantastic opportunity for us to find out more about a cool place close to our school. Our guide John showed us how to use the nets to dip in the pond, capture flying insects using a net and pooter, and told us all about the red squirrel.
There are over 250 red squirrels in the Raven wood and we learned all about what they eat...pine cones! The most exciting things we found were a newt and a lizard. We luckily stayed away from the crocodile! After lunch we hit the beach and caught some rays...we were really lucky with the weather.
We cant wait to go back again and would recommend anyone to go to the wood to find out more. Thanks to Ms Laffan for organising this trip with the Wildfowl Reserve
