Ms. Sutherland's 1st class have been very busy over the past few weeks. After the mid term break in October we received some exciting news that we would be learning some gymnastics with Wexford Gynmastics Club. We were learning things like forward rolls, balancing on the balance beam, some trampoline tricks and lots lots more. It was a 6 week course which finished up last Thursday. On the last day we got to play in the foam pit which was great fun.. even teacher had a go!! We had the most amazing time and would like to thank all of the coaches at Wexford Gymnastics Club who helped us to become fantastic gymnasts.
Over the past 6 weeks we have also been learning some GAA. The coaches explained to us the importance of wearing a helmet when playing hurling so that everyone is safe. They also taught us some of the skills involved in becoming a great hurler. They are expecting to see some of our class on the Wexford hurling teams in years to come!
We have had a very special visitor in our class for the past month.. Jingles the elf who arrived by express post to our class on 1st December. We have been very lucky because he has been a very well behaved elf. He even came to watch us at gymnastics to see if he could learn some of the moves. He played with some of our toys, painted some pictures and read some of our library books. He was so impressed with all the hard work we were doing in class, last Thursday he sent us a very special treat from the North Pole.. hot chocolate and marshmallows. Teacher brought us to the staff room where we heated the milk, mixed it with the hot chocolate power, stirred it well and added some marshmallows on the top. We are very grateful to Jingles for such a special Christmas treat and we will miss him very much.
Ms. Sutherland is very proud of all the boys and girls in her class who have worked so hard over the past term. Jingles has reported all the good news to Santa in the North Pole so hopefully he is very good to you all.
Ms. Sutherland and her class would like to wish everyone in our very large Scoil Mhuire family and wider community, a very happy, healthy and safe Christmas. Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
