The Scoil Mhuire Parents Association Committee is comprised entirely of parents/guardians of students who attend the school. At our AGM last month the new committee was elected and the elected representatives are:
The Committee work closely with Ms. Jordan and debates school policies in liaison with one of our Board of management representatives, Ursula Sweeney.
However, all parents/guardians of the school’s students are members of the Parents Association and are invited to come along to any PA events.
The Parents Association organises and co-ordinates many fundraising activities throughout the school year such as the school cake sale. All proceeds from these events are used for the benefit of the students. Over the past year, monies raised from these activities have contributed to the buying of instruments, books and sports equipment for the students use.
We also organise the Christmas and Easter raffles and Santa’s annual visit to the school. This is in addition to the refreshments at the school’s Communion Mass and the Sixth Class end of year party and the School Uniform sale.
The Committee also sets aside funds for contributions to charitable organisations and in the past have contributed to the Haiti Fund, St. Vincent de Paul and the Paediatric Unit at Wexford General Hospital.
The Parents Association are always looking for new members/volunteers to help with such activities. We understand that many parents may not have the time to participate at all of our events but if you have the time to help out at any time even for an hour or two, your help would be greatly appreciated.
We will keep you updated on up and coming events such as coffee mornings and meetings.
