Student Council

The student council was first set up in Scoil Mhuire last year to give students a chance to share their ideas with the teachers and managers of the school. This October it was time to elect a new student council from 4th, 5th and 6th classes.

First we took part in activities that showed how important it is that your voice is heard. Then we looked at the function of the student council. When we got to choosing the representatives we looked at various types of personalities. Over 100 pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th classes were nominated -- which shows that the pupils really want to have a say in how our school is run.

The day of the election was very exciting. The candidates in each class gave rousing speeches. Voting was held by secret ballot in the breakfast room.

Eventually, the votes were counted and the successful candidates were:

A.J.Roche, Grace White, Owen O' Neill, David Osasere, Mia Walsh, Alex Kirby, Igor Zielinski, Jack Dempsey and Cyan Doyle. Congratulations!

Well done to all those who put themselves forward but didn't make it, better luck next time!
