The Boy's Rackard league hurling team played their first match yesterday at home to Taghmon. For some of them it was their first time to play hurling for a team. All the boy's put in a great effort. Apart from a short spell in the 2nd half, our boy's really matched Taghmon in every part of the field. It was great to see our team show real fighting spirit. Next game is away to Blackwater next week.b2ap3_thumbnail_20160411_152225.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_20160411_152221.jpgb2ap3_thumbnail_20160411_152217.jpg

Some of the 6th class boys were involved in a 5 a side soccer tournament today which was held in Ferrycarrig Park. The first match was against CBS, who proved to be very strong winning easy in the end. The team regrouped and put in a much improved performance in the 2nd game beating Kennedy Park B by 2 goals. That left us with an all to play for fixture against Kennedy Park A in our last game. The boys were on top early on but could not get the vital scores. Eventually tiredness set in and Kennedy Park took control winning 3 goals to nil. Well done to all the boys that were involved.

Well done to the boys mini 7's football team who were runners up in the shield competition yesterday in Adamstown. They played their first game against Adamstown and gave a great account of themselves. They got some fantastic score but lost out to a better team. The boys then had to play straight away again against Ballymitty which wasn't easy given the heavy conditions. This didn't stop the team from giving a great performance running up a score of 4 - 7 and winning by 7 points. We now needed Ballymitty to beat Adamstown. However this did not happen so the boys had to settle for 2nd place. Well done to all involved.

On Thursday the 8th of October the boys mini 7's team travelled to Piercestown for their blitz. Representing the school were Jesse Dempsey, David Oasesere, Alex Kirby, Charlie Hynes, Clinton Adams, Conor Heath, Ethan Ryan Petitt, Edward Walsh O' Brien, Sam Day and Barry Browne. Our first match was against Tagmon. The boys found the pace tough at the start and went behind early on. However the 2nd half was a different story as we dominated the match and were most unlucky to lose by a point at the end. Unfortunetly as losers of the match we had to play straightaway against Piercestown. Tired legs made the first half very demanding and Pircestown took an early lead that they never gave up. nonethe less Our boys battled to the end and were on top for most of the 2nd half. Everyone played with great heart but special mention must go to David in goals and Cinton who was outstanding in defence.
