Dear Parents & Guardians, it's been a very busy day here in Scoil Mhuire and we're delighted to confirm that we will re-open for pupils tomorrow morning. Our team of builders has been working hard from first light making the storm damaged areas of the roof safe. It will be a number of weeks before the repairs are completed fully so we'll be looking a little less than our best for a while. Our annual Pumpkin Sale in aid of our Rainbow Unit and our annual Book Fair will launch tomorrow...so it's an exciting three days ahead. We look forward to welcoming all the children back tomorrow and thank you again for your support over the past few days.

As many Parents, Guardians & members of our local community will know at this stage, Scoil Mhuire suffered some roof damage today as a result of the very high winds brought by Storm Ophelia. Our school plan, when events like this occur, has been put in place. We have a building team on standby and they will begin work on the roof as soon as the winds die down. They will make the roof safe in preparation for more significant repairs. Fortunately, no one was injured today and that is the most important thing. If possible, we will re-open for pupils on Wednesday. We will ensure to keep our Parents & Guardians up to date via text & our school website as soon as we have definitive news. We ask that you be patient with us as it may be later tomorrow before we can confirm that we will re-open on Wednesday. We hope that you and your families are safe and well and we thank you for all the kind messages of support that we received today.

As most Parents and Guardians already know, a new Scoil Mhuire uniform will be introduced in September. The new uniform will be a navy tracksuit bottom, a light blue polo shirt and a Scoil Mhuire half zip. As you can see in the photos, there will be two types of half zip. The navy, blue and white half zip will be for children from Junior Infants to 4th Class. The navy and blue half zip with the Wexford colours of purple and gold will be for 5th and 6th Class only. The half zips, which are made by C-Sports, cost €28 and €34 (larger sizes). They will be available to buy from August onwards in Hores Stores, Wexford. Hores Stores operates a Uniform Savings Scheme for any Parents and Guardians who would like to set aside some money towards uniform costs between now and August. The Board of Management is aware that some existing school uniforms are in very good condition and children will be allowed to wear the ‘old’ or ‘new’ uniform during 2017/18.
