A challenge has been laid down for the pupils, teachers and parents of Scoil Mhuire. Can we as a school and a community walk or run 500 miles by the end of the school year? A mile involves 9 laps of our school yard or 5 laps of our school pitch. The senior classes have committed to doing a mile a day while the junior classes will try do a mile a week. This is an enjoyable way to get more active and the children are really up for it. We are also getting parents involved, with a parents running group meeting up every Friday morning. We have also registered as a group for RTE's Operation Transformation and will be sending in videos of our progress to them. This is a big challenge for our school but as our motto says together we grow and with this challenge, we will get more active together.

Sports day took place on Thursday 4th of June, thanks to the fantastic weather. Junior infants to 3rd stayed in the school while 4th to 6th went to the college field. Some of the activities involved included egg and spoon race, sack race, orienteering, wellie throwing, rounders and obstacle courses galore. There was a great atmosphere in the school with all the parents looked after with tea and scones. A big thank you must go to the coaches from VTOS which is part of Wexford GAA. Despite being in the middle of exams 10 coaches came up to help out. Kim and Alan are regulars in our school and we were delighted with their help yesterday. Also we had underage players from Clonard GAA in to help. 5 of these were past pupils and it was great to see them giving back to the school. It is good to see them all involved with their local club also. At the end of the day we had awards, the raffle and to finish we had the winning team. By a margin of two points the blue team were the winners. All the children had a really fun day and everybody took part in the right spirit.
