Scoil Mhuire Hosts Nurturing Schools Gathering

Scoil Mhuire opened its Nurture Room in September 2017 and it was the first primary school Nurture Room to open in Ireland outside Dublin. Our Nurture Room supports the social and emotional wellbeing and learning needs of our pupils. Following on from the success of our Nurture Room, Scoil Mhuire is now participating in the National Nurturing Schools Programme. Through this programme, we are working to develop and embed a nurturing culture throughout the school. In Scoil Mhuire we believe, that by having a whole-school nurturing approach, we can support the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of our pupils, parents and carers, staff, management and school community. This in turn provides a strong foundation to support our pupils to be the best learners they can be and it facilitates them to play an important role both at school and in their community.

On Thursday of last week, Scoil Mhuire hosted the National Nurturing Schools Programme Review Meeting. We were joined by colleagues from St Senan's and St Aidan's Primary Schools in Enniscorthy, and Catherine McCauley Junior School and Edmund Rice Senior School in New Ross. Together we worked with Yvonne Monaghan, Head of Consultancy at nurtureuk and Susan Gibney, Director, Blackrock Education Centre to progress our whole-school nurturing plan of action. Here's to exciting nurturing times ahead...
