The ESB Science Blast has been running for quite a few years now. It’s a non-competitive educational programme for primary schools and it involves the whole class investigating the science behind a simple question of interest to them.

Scoil Mhuire has been represented at the ESB Science Blast, in the RDS, Dublin for many years, most recently in 2023. A huge amount of preparation goes into the Science Blast entry, which is the domain of our middle and senior classes.

This year, Mr Cody’s 4th Class represented our school. The question his pupils chose was, Can we recycle and reuse waste paper in our classroom? It was a very successful outing for the girls and boys who enjoyed a tremendous day. They wowed the judges with their scientific knowledge, skills and understanding. They also learned a lot from getting to visit the displays of other primary schools and they enjoyed making new friends and talking to them about their science questions and presentations.
