To date, Scoil Mhuire has been awarded five An Taisce Green Flags. The first Green Flag was for Litter and Waste in 2003. We subsequently received awards for Energy Conservation, Travel, Water Conservation, and Biodiversity.

This year’s Green Flag is a revision of Litter and Waste along with Global Citizenship, which looks at how we are connected globally both in how we consume goods and distribute our waste.

Scoil Mhuire’s Green School Committee is made up of pupils from 3rd to 6th Classes. Their focus this year has been on recycling and waste management. The committee created special posters for every class detailing the correct systems for waste and recycling. Through the committee’s work, we have significantly improved recycling practices in our school.

Our Green School Committee also carries out regular litter patrols and the committee will launch a bid to become Wexford’s Cleanest School in April 2023.
