Scoil Mhuire’s library, the Eoin Colfer Library, was officially opened by internationally renowned author and former Scoil Mhuire teacher in October 2022. The library has over 5000 books for pupils to choose from. The categories include Fiction, Science, Sport, History, Geography, Gaeilge, Technology, Nature, Myths & Legends, Music, Art and the Environment. The library also boasts popular fiction in the multiple languages of our pupils, as well a good range of audio books and children’s monthly magazines
very pupil visits the library with their class on a weekly basis to browse and exchange books. Our librarian is on hand every day to help the pupils to choose their books. From time to time, visiting authors facilitate pupil workshops in the library, especially during Scoil Mhuire’s annual Writers’ Week. The library also hosts an extensive resource section for school staff.
Our pupils are delighted to have such a new and well-resourced library in their school. They really love their regular visits and are now being introduced to and enjoying the work of a wonderful range of children’s authors.
