Welcome to the website of Scoil Mhuire, Coolcotts and I hope that our website will be of interest to you and that it will give you a good sense and appreciation of our school. Scoil Mhuire is a Catholic, co-educational primary school of 600 pupils located in the wonderful community of Coolcotts, in Wexford town. We provide for children from Junior Infants to 6th Class and for children on the autism spectrum through our Rainbow Early Intervention Class and our Rainbow Primary Classes.

We are a primary school that is richly diverse from the perspectives of nationality, ethnicity, cultural traditions and religious beliefs. Our main aim is to provide an open, welcoming and nurturing environment where our pupils can thrive.  In Scoil Mhuire we offer a broad and holistic education with the express goal that each child who attends our school will feel important, included and respected.

As a school, we will care for and nurture your child. We will help them to grow and to flourish. We will encourage them to be confident, to make friends and to have lots of fun. We will help them to learn to read and write and do Maths and Science. We will bring them on journeys in their imagination and encourage them to be artistic, creative and independent. We will look after their wellbeing, supporting their physical, social and emotional development.

The children in our school are well served by a dedicated and hardworking team of teachers, SNAs, ancillary staff and school management. The cultivation of a nurturing environment for pupils, the promotion of new learning initiatives and high level staff collaboration are hallmarks of how the staff team works for the benefit of pupil wellbeing and learning.

Another important key goal of our school is that we work together to ensure that each child will emerge as a secure and self-reliant learner and young person, having been facilitated to play an active role in the life of Scoil Mhuire and equipped to play a confident and involved role in their local community. Scoil Mhuire aims to achieve this through the open and collaborative endeavour of children, parents, staff, management and the wider community, in which each person’s contribution is encouraged, valued and maximised.

We enjoy learning, playing and growing together in our school, in a truly welcoming, nurturing and inclusive school environment.
