Encouraging and supporting good pupil attendance is always to the forefront of our planning and actions in Scoil Mhuire. As a school, we see regular attendance as being a key contributor to our pupils’ success in learning. We recognise the clear and direct relationship between regular school attendance and our pupils’ social, emotional and academic progress.
At all times, we work together as a school community to create a welcoming, nurturing and supportive environment for every pupil. Our teachers deliver stimulating, differentiated and flexible learning experiences that respond to our pupils’ different learning styles, interests and abilities.
Our pupils are consistently made aware of the high value we place as a school on good attendance and punctuality, through class discussions, school assemblies and meetings with parents/guardians and families. We also host a range of different attendance initiatives throughout the school year, including:
- HERO (Here, Everyday, Ready, On Time) Certificates for improved attendance. Achievements are affirmed at assemblies and noted on the Attendance Noticeboard.
- The Count Me In twenty day class attendance challenge during particular months, including prize winners in every class.
- The Drive for Five attendance challenge tailored for specific pupils to realise five, ten, fifteen and twenty consecutive days attendance.
As a school, we also draw on the following supports to promote attendance:
School-based Supports for Pupils

Co-curricular & Extra-curricular Supports

School-based Supports for Families

External Supports for Families
